Meet The Speaker

  • My name is Rasna Afroz (she/her), and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition and working as a teaching assistant at the University of Arkansas. Originally from Bangladesh, I bring a global perspective and a genuine curiosity to everything I do. I’m especially drawn to research, especially when I have the chance to explore topics in creative and unconventional ways. There’s something really exciting about finding new ways to write or communicate, and I love to create curiosity and excitement in others through my approach, just as the process inspires me.

Beyond my academic life, I’m the happiest when I’m making or growing something—whether I’m in the kitchen, at my sewing machine, sketching a design or an art, or getting my hands dirty in the garden. I find that bringing creativity into everyday life helps me stay grounded and inspired. Faith, responsibility, and personal growth matter a lot to me- they keep me honest, both in my academic work and in how I move through the world. For me, research and craft should never feel distant or inaccessible; our ideas deserve to be shared in ways that engage, challenge, and delight.
